New York ElevenLabs To Expand NYC Office, Adding 230 Jobs As AI Hiring Grows

New York, N.Y. A fast-growing artificial intelligence company best known for lifelike voice technology is expanding in Manhattan, a move state officials say will bring hundreds of new jobs to New York City and deepen the region’s role as an AI hub.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced this week that ElevenLabs plans to significantly expand its U.S. operations in New York City, creating 230 new engineering and corporate jobs, retaining 36 existing city positions, and investing $33 million in research and development.

ElevenLabs, founded in 2022 by Warsaw-raised childhood friends Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dąbkowski, develops AI audio models and tools used for voice generation and dubbing, and it has expanded into products for businesses and creators. The company said New York’s talent base and creative economy made the city a natural place to scale.

The company will relocate from Spring Street to a larger office at 40 Crosby Street in SoHo. State economic development officials said support could reach up to $4.4 million through the performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program, tied to job creation and R&D benchmarks.

For families and students, the expansion could translate into more internships, entry-level tech roles, and industry partnerships with local colleges and training providers—especially with nearly 100 projected roles expected to be in software engineering. Parents with teens exploring careers may want to watch for apprenticeship-style programs and employer-led training pathways as hiring ramps up.

State leaders framed the announcement as part of a broader push to grow “responsible AI,” including workforce investments and the Empire AI Consortium.
